Review: Hulk Vs. Thor

Review of:  Hulk Vs. Thor Overall Rating: 9

Hulk Vs. Thor is awesome!  In this we actually get to see the pure Hulk unrestricted by Bruce Banner.  It’s like normal Hulk Vs. Thor then they go into overtime and we get to watch unfettered Hulk Vs. all of Asgard.  This is an owner for me, it has a lot of rewatchablility and I have even noticed many subtle new elements with each viewing.

The story:  Loki unleashes a revenge plot against his brother Thor during Odin’s sleep.  Loki pulls Bruce Banner from Midgard and separates him from the Hulk than sets the Hulk loose upon Thor and all of Asgard.  What If: the Hulk was unrestricted, enraged, and let loose upon a place.

The footage looks really good and I can’t wait to see both of the smashing battles.

An update on my posts Exploring: Hulk vs Wolverine 2009 Movie and Exploring HULK VS THOR they are both on the Hulk Vs. DVD and not released as two separate DVD’s

  • Hulk Vs. Thor:  A gods verses monster movie.  Loki looking for a way to bring defeat to his step brother teleports the only monster in the nine realms capable of this feat, The Incredible Hulk from Midgard.  The Hulk gets transported to Asgard which confuses and as expected angers him leaving Thor to try and stop him in an epic battle.
  • Hulk Vs. Wolverine:  The Hulk is loose rampaging through the Canadian Wilderness.  To stop him Canadian’s Department H sends out Wolverine their elite agent.  This is the wild Wolverine before the X-Men days and without some of the tempering from Professor Xavier.  The clash results in a fierce battle.  Dead Pool also makes an appearance and complicates matters even more for Wolverine.

Exploring HULK VS THOR

JOURNEY_INTO_MYSTERY_112_1965 After watching Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow I came across a trailer for the next project they are working on Hulk vs. Thor.  It's a gods verses monster movie.  The Hulk gets transported to Asgard which confuses and as expected angers him leaving Thor to try and stop him.  The trailer looks nice and I could only imagine how a fight between two seemingly undefeatable opponents would go.  Do you think Loki had a hand in this? The Avengers Reborn into Heroes of Tomorrow

The Next Avengers Heroes of TomorrowThe Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow is fifth in a series of animated Marvel Comics movie by Lions Gate Entertainment.  It will be released on September 2, 2008.  The first sneak peek of the film was featured on the Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme animated movie but was under the name Avengers Reborn which sounds much cooler.

I'm excited to see this one because they did such a great job with the other movies.  That said I also have some concerns.  This movie has a PG ratting instead of the usual PG-13 rating that the other movies have.  I hope that they didn't dumb down the story or make it too kidsy to get the PG rating.

Plot / Story: The Avengers united to protect earth against evil and after defeating earths enemies they returned to their personal lives. They fell in love, had children Captain America and Black Widow had a son, Thor had a daughter, Black Panther had a prince, Hawk Eye a son, Giant Man and Wasp had a son.

Ultron arrives on earth wanting total domination but the Avengers stand in his way. One by one with his knowledge of their weaknesses he defeated each avenger. They hid away their children from Ultron to have hope for the future.

Now with the hope of the future in their hands Iron Man and The Hulk must raise and train the children so that one day they may unite the Next Avengers and overthrow Ultron.

  • Voice Actors: Tom Kane, Dempsey Pappion, Aidan Drummond, Brenna O'Brien, Fred Tatasciore
  • Director: Jay Oliva
  • Studio: Lions Gate

As a little side note Giant Man is the scientific genius Hank Pym also known as Ant-Man.  So no worries he and Wasp have a son.

The Avengers Program Who Will Make The Cut

Get your copy of The Avengers animated movie here The rumblings of a special team being put together has received some new light recently.  With mixed results from the super soldier program Marvel sheds some more light on their Avenger project.  They really proved their capabilities to handle this project with Iron Man and The Hulk.  So now we are left wondering who will be in the avenger movie? The lineup has changed some as they are working on the individual film but Favreau tells us that "The ones Marvel is talking about now are Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man and Iron Man."

He left out Nick Fury, I hope it is only a slip up because Samuel Jackson was awesome as Nick Fury in the cut scene after the credits in Iron Man.  He didn't get to show up in Hulk other than in name.  Then again I don't expect him to have his own movie but I hope to see him have some cameo roles in the future films.

Iron Man was in theaters in May

Hulk just came out in theaters

Thor is scheduled for June 4 2010

Ant-Man doesn't have a time set yet for the film but he could be placed into the Iron Man 2 film scheduled for April 30 2010.

The First Avenger: Captain America: May 6 2011

It's all still a ways off so we will have to see what changes between now and then.  One of my concerns is how much will the Avengers movie cost if they have a full cast of headlining actors & actresses?  This could be the limiting factor on any Avenger movie where they will have to do something either getting them to share more of the cut of the film or to have a smaller number of superheros in any given film.  I found it interesting when Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios' president of production, put forth the idea of "heroes can cross into each other's adventures and occasionally team up if there's a foe too great for any one of them to handle."  This could be a way to have Avengers films with out having to have more then a few headliners in any one film and to maintain a sense of setting consistency.

I applaud Marvel Studios for taking on such a large project in a fan friendly manner and for not trying to cut corners.  I do not envy them for having to make some very hard choices regarding how to fit in a ton of superheros into an avenger film which is what I would love to see yet staying within budget for talent costs and to have enough money left over to make sure that the effects look great.  Good luck, and God speed, I eagerly await the next project.

Impersonal Unions, NJ looses Marriage

This is the strangest thing I have ever heard:

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. -- In inheritance, health insurance, parental rights and virtually everything else but name, gay couples in New Jersey would be treated the same as married couples under a bill introduced this week.

The bill to authorize civil unions refers to couples not as "spouses" but as "parties," language the head of the state's main gay rights group considers "putrid (Gay.com)."

Parties?  Not Partners?  Okay, the scary word "Marriage" is avoided, which I suppose rules out the word spouse, but to resort to such an impersonal word as party?  We are parties to each other?

Perhaps these lawmakers have watched too many episodes of Queer as Folk.  While we like to party, attend parties, and of  course, throw the best parties in the world, but I have only met a couple of queens that I would refer to as parties themselves.  Maybe we should embrace this term and take it away from the breeders so in future all parties will be considered, "O, so gay." ;)

We have been through this separate but equal crap before, and maybe someday will stand up like South Africa did Nov 30th and just legalize Gay marriage.   I guess it takes time to learn that separate but equal is never equal.

Pride Under Fire

C.E. Dorsett This is what happens in a country whose leaders attack a minority, scapegoating them for the ills of the nation:

Five men were attacked with baseball bats and taunted with anti-gay slurs over the weekend after leaving San Diego's LGBT Pride Festival, the first violent attack associated with the 32-year-old event (Gay.com).

Anti-gay violence...   Not covered in the mainstream news because my community doesn't matter to those who pick the news.  I have often been asked, "Why do you write so much about Gay stuff?"  This is why.  People like me are attacked all too often for the simple crime of loving someone.  We love... they hate.  I will shout from the from the rooftop until the hate crimes stop!

Police said three young men attacked the victims with baseball bats and a knife. Authorities said the assailants taunted their victims with antigay epithets as they were beating them. One of the victims remains hospitalized with a fractured skull and may need reconstructive surgery. Another suffered superficial stab wounds (Gay.com)

My prayers go out to the victims.  I hope they have a full recovery.

A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody Tuesday night, just hours after a 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the attacks. Police are withholding the two minors' names.

James Allen Carroll (24), a convicted felon, was arrested Monday on suspicion of participating in the attacks (Gay.com).

Beliefs matter.  Rhetoric matters.  As long as it is acceptable in polite society for people to hate any minority, blood will be spilled somewhere as a result of those idle words.  We need to push forward the concept of IDIC, Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combination.  Until we make Justice and Equality our highest moral ideals, things like this will continue to happen.

Virtual Books Signings?

C.E. Dorsett I have really mixed feelings about this...

LONDON - Margaret Atwood has had enough of long journeys, late nights and writer's cramp. Tired of grueling book tours, the Booker Prize-winning Canadian author on Sunday unveiled her new invention: a remote-controlled pen that allows writers to sign books for fans from thousands of miles away (AP on Yahoo!).

It is hard enough to attract an audience as a Non-Booker Prize winning writer, but it would be impossible with a virtual machine. This is an invention to help big wigs sell more books... not to be selfish, but what does it do for people like me?

Over the last 5 years or so, all of the best fiction I have read has been either posted to the internet or self-published because it does not follow some predetermined formula. These writers aren't huge because they don't have the money behind them to tour and promote their books... Low budgets are hard on a writer. Why would someone stop at a booth for a writer they have never heard of?

While Margaret Atwood is tired of book tours and writer's cramp, there are plenty of writers who would gladly take her promotion budget. It is one more why for well-to-do writers to distance themselves from the rest of us.

Self-promotery

C.E. Dorsett This is a topic near to my heart:

Can an author promote their books too much? That seems to be the question of the week making the blog rounds.

...

In the end, like any form of advertising, anyone who is tired of the advertising can always tune it out, or change the channel, or turn off the radio (SF Signal)...

As someone who is really into punk and goth, I have to say that I feel that any self-promotion is millimeters away from selling out. I feel queesy about charging money for the book... It feels like selling out to me, but I have to make a living somehow, and if I don't sell the books, t-shirts and such, I won't have time to write. Justine Larbalestier writes:

Accusations of being too self promotery make me a bit jittery. Promoting your books is part of a writer’s job. If no one knows the book exists how is it going to sell? A writer should be out there lining up bookshop appearances, sending out postcards/business cards/tshoshkas of some kind. You should be attending cons/trade shows/schools/libraries or whatever will help get the word out about your work. It may not have that much effect (no one really knows how to get word of mouth going*), but it might, and besides, for your own peace of mind it helps to know that you’re doing something (Justine Larbalestier.com).

Tell me about it. At book signings, as a new writer, people treat you like a caged animal in a zoo. People point you out to their children, “That is the endangered SF Writer of Heartland. Don't get to close, they are unpredictable. Be sure not to feed them or they will come to expect it from you.”

It is even harder to get the attention of an editor. So many want to be writers... If only every would be writer would be a reader... then maybe their would be more magazines and opportunities to be compensated for creative impulses. What is a writer to do?

I just witnessed the most obnoxious slush submission EVER. Someone sent us a letter informing us of the impending arrival of his brilliant new story, along with a bunch of quotes from people he knows that say how good it is. But the best (or worst) part about the submission is that it was full of red, white, and blue stars, which got all over the place when I opened the envelope. And to make things worse, they're made of some material that's very static-clingy, so they're very difficult to pick up and/or brush off your hands (The Slush God).

Not that, sure, but I can understand the frustration that would drive someone to put confetti in a submission. With an editor spending on average 2 seconds on each submission, you have to stand out somehow...

Maybe if books were moved to the front, out of the stakes based on merit rather than huge paid placement deals, it would be easier to attract an audience.

Will I stop going to cons? No way. Here is why. Read Seth Godin’s book ‘Permission Marketing.’ He talks about primary ’sneezers,’ people who spread the word about a product or something they fall in love with (think mac evangelists, or religious cultists, or in biology, Typhoid Mary). Book ’sneezers’ are the kind of people who will go to a convention or a reader at a convention, or come to a signing. So if you want to prime that pump, you need to meet sneezers, and that’s why I think cons and readings and book signings are not initially profitable, but in the long run, start the first level of word of mouth (Tobias Buckell.com).

On that note: I will be at Shoreleave this year! Hope to see you there.

What is a writer to do? Honestly, what? I blog...

Two Top Democrats lack Spine

C.E. Dorsett Question: Why aren't the democrats in power? Why can't they mount a viable opposition to the most dangerous presidency that has ever assaulted the civil liberties and Constitution itself?

Two key Democrats yesterday called the NSA domestic surveillance program necessary for fighting terrorism but questioned whether President Bush had the legal authority to order it done without getting congressional approval.

Rep. Jane Harman (Calif.), ranking Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and former Senate majority leader Thomas A. Daschle (S.D.) said Republicans are trying to create a political issue over Democrats' concern on the constitutional questions raised by the spying program (Washington Post).

Answer: Because they are too busy selling out the democracy they are suppose to be protecting. I am sick and tired of these people pretending to support the people and then slap us down so they can fit easily in the President's pants.

If it weren't for Howard Dean and the few voices of sanity in the Democratic Party, I would have left the greatest weak willed party in history. Stand up, people! Stand for you beliefs, the Constitution, and the Country, or get off the stage! Triangulation is the tool of the devil, and must be rejected as useless.

Down the Bleeping Rabbit Hole

If you haven't seen the movie What the BLEEP do we know, get it it. If you have seen it I have I have a treat for you:

What the BLEEP – Down the Rabbit Hole is an extended Director’s Cut of What the Bleep Do We Know!? It includes new scientific findings that supplement the original movie, and it goes more deeply into the concepts explored.

We still follow Amanda as her uninspired life unravels to reveal the uncertain world of quantum mechanics hidden beneath her normal, waking reality. But in the Director’s Cut, the interviews are lengthened and a full 95% of all interviews is new, never before seen footage exploring the links between quantum mechanics, neurobiology, human consciousness and day-to-day reality.

Featuring an hour of new interviews and two new scientists, Dean Radin, Ph.D., and Dr. Masaru Emoto, and author of The Field, Lynne McTaggart; and introducing Dr. Quantum in 20 minutes of new animation, this is the deeper exploration that you’ve been asking for (What the Bleep.com).

This is one of the most innovative and inspirational movie I have seen for a long time. If you are interested in the nature of reality, watch this film.

Project and Personal News

Greetings, symposiasts, guests, and friends. Life has been sort of hectic around here lately. I have been working hard to get the Levitz Paradigm for the up coming audio series finished, we are fixing up a house to move into, and I have been walking 3.5 - 4.0 miles a day (I have lost 29 pounds in last 3 months). Sorry, I haven't had the time to blog about more personal things lately, but I will try to do better.

Yesterday, my official Amazon.com Author Profile and Blog went live! It will share career information with my readers at Amazon.com.

The Levitz Paradigm for the Audio Series is finished, I will start writing chapter one this week!

The house is looking very good. It should be livable soon.

The walking is showing results. Will share more on that later.

Hope you all are doing well! Blog more tomarrow.

Hate Crime Follow Up: Mass Teen dead in Ark.

GASSVILLE, Ark. -- The teenager suspected of a hatchet-and-gun attack in a Massachusetts gay bar and in the killing of two people in Arkansas, including a policeman, died Sunday of wounds suffered in a gun battle with officers, authorities said (Gay.com).

I will not post the murderer's name. I think that gives him a hint of glory he doesn't deserve. He maybe dead, but the threat continues, not only from him, but from those who are seeking to misuse this horror for their own aims.

A teenager accused of going on a rampage at a gay bar with a hatchet and a gun sometimes glorified Nazism and had a swastika tattoo but never previously expressed any prejudice toward gays, friends say (Gay.com).

The play is to blame Insane Clown Posse, and to a lesser extent Nazism for this kids actions. Music does not cause this! I agree that we shouldn't support hate filled music, because hate is contagious no matter its form, but Insane Clown Posse is a shock rock band. I am not sure they advocate hate. Nazism will become an excuse to ignore the hate in the culture.

We need to look for answers to end hate, not a scapegoat to blame.

Protesting to be made illegal

Kiss your freedom goodbye!

A new provision tucked into the Patriot Act bill now before Congress would allow authorities to haul demonstrators at any “special event of national significance” away to jail on felony charges if they are caught breaching a security perimeter (Fox News).

If this bill is passed, our right to protest will be erased from history, and their will be no protecting to get it back.

Evangelical Taliban v ACLU before the Supreme Court

by C.E. Dorsett Okay actually, the cases are Van Orden v. Perry, 03-1500, and McCreary County v. ACLU, 03-1693 [full story]. They are both cases involving those ghastly Ten Commandments monuments on Government Land! Now I hope the Court follows the tradition and law of the United States and continues to say that these displays are patently unconstitutional, but three justices have already made up their mind, and they are not on the side of the people, they are on the side of the Evangelical Taliban.

I have a strong opinion on these issues. I recite the Ten Utterances every week as part of my prayers, and just look around the site for a while and you will notice that I am a kind of religious person, but what these evangelicals are trying to do is wrong morally, religiously, and politically.

The Moral Argument (1)

It is wrong to force your religious opinions on others using the force of law. We are fighting a war against people that did that in Afghanistan, and are attempting to do it globally. It is amoral at best, and immoral at worse to wage a war to defend democracy from the encroachment of anachronistic, intolerant, solipsistic religion in the world only to allow it to thrive and take over our government here. It is simple: do you support the Taliban or not?

I, for one, believe that a religious state is always a dangerous state, to its citizens and to the world. We where right to topple the Taliban, and we mustn't allow one to entrench itself in this country. (Oops... a little late for that... I guess we'll just have to take this country back from the extremists too.)

The Moral Argument (2)

The double standard: if you want to post a message supporting of ethical conduct, why not post the five precepts of the Buddha?

  1. To undertake the training to avoid taking the life of beings.
  2. To undertake the training to avoid taking things not given.
  3. To undertake the training to avoid sensual misconduct.
  4. To undertake the training to refrain from false speech.
  5. To undertake the training to abstain from substances which cause intoxication and heedlessness.

There is nothing objectionable in these five precepts. Nothing to even identify them as being from a particular religion at all. No Sectarian God to obey, no magic words not to say, no holy days to keep... just pure simple morality/ethics. Why not use these or come up with five, or even ten complete no sectarian sentences that will provide moral clarity to our fellow citizens?

Because morality is a front! This has nothing to do with the moral character of society, or acknowledging our history. It is a way for these evangelicals to propagate the myth that they are persecuted for their beliefs. It is about fear and power, because if they were Christians they would know that Christ himself condemned what they are trying to do.

The Religious Argument

To be honest, these “evangelicals” practice some strange New Age religion that claims to be Christian, and claims to be historic, but it relies on dangerous heresies and sociopaths (Darby, Wigglesworth, et al.) to connect itself to Christian history and tradition. I have nothing against a little heterodoxy from time to time to keep the faith on its toes, but you have to be honest. They are not Christian, and what's worse they are in clear violation of the teachings of Christ!

Holding a roman coin in his hand, “he said to them, 'Whose head is this, and whose title?' They answered, “The emperor's.' Then he said to them, 'Give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperor's, and to God the things that are God's (Matt 22:20-21).'“ I have ask, in a secular democracy, does your faith belong to God or to the state? Where do the Ten Commandments belong? [Let me remind you that the first four are regulations dealing solely with religious faith (Exodus 20:2-17)] It is blindingly obvious that they belong in the church, not on state ground.

This is the doctrine of the two kingdoms (sometimes referred to as the kingdom of the left, and the kingdom of the right). It is one of the reasons we have separation of Church and State in this country. The Church should not interfere in the Government, and the Government should leave the Church alone.

The Political Argument

It is politically dangerous to validate anything with a seal of divine authority. There is no way to prove or disprove divine inspiration (and many have tried). To tag something as sacred in politics is simply a way to state: “We are too cowardly to debate this issue in the realm of ideas, so I will create an argument that you cannot debate at all.”

In a democracy, this is wrong, and must never be tolerated. What an individual or group believes is on thing, but in civil discourse, religious arguments have no place. Even the Vatican basis its Gospel of Life (anti-abortion/anti-death penalty) on the argument they human life is special, and as a result humans should never kill other humans in any way. They make both a religious and a secular/philosophical argument for their position. One for the church, the other for the state! That is the way it must be.

To mix Church and State in any way is a dangerous and destructive activity for both institution. For the best of both, they should be kept at a safe distance from each other

''Rush'' to Judgement

Read the Story from Media Matters: Limbaugh on the "religious character" of liberalism: "[T]he whole point of it is to make you feel better about yourself as you accomplish nothing" Now I know many people are going to attack Rush for says such a blindingly stupid thing. Normally, I would be one of them, but I think we have to look into the mirror before we lash back.

For as long as I can remember (i'm 27), Liberals have not stood for much of anything. Look at the WTO protests... What is their position? What is the arguement they have against the WTO? Well... I didn't ask your opinion, I asked you to explain theirs.

Name six conservative Christian leaders: Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, James Dobson, D James Kennedy, John Ankerberg, Hal Linsey. Okay... these people are on TV all the time.

Now, name six liberal Christian leaders... Well, I'm waiting... John Shelby Spong, Robert Funk, Markus Borg, Matthew Fox, John Dominic Crossan, Elaine Pagels. Have you heard of them? When was the last time you saw them on TV?

Liberal Christians don't speak up as often as the Neo-cons! That is starting to change, but not soon enough. The best way to fight these statements is to stand up and let your voice be heard, not to complain about them.

If we are ever going to get rid of this reputation as weak, we have to be strong.

Liberal Unite! We have the numbers, we need to shout!
