chronicles of narnia

DVD Releases: December 2nd, 2008

  • Wanted:  I love this movie James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie, and Morgan Freeman.  With tight action, mystery, and plot twists it’s a great example of what an SF Action film should be.  A definite owner.  You can read my full review at Exploring: Wanted
  • The X-Files: I Want to Believe: I want to believe is a good crime drama, thriller movie.  It is well written.  The beginning sets up a suspenseful mood and tension.  This is carried with an appropriate pace for this type of film through to a textbook ending that was nice but not extraordinary.  For Fans it would be a definite owner but for your first experience I would suggest renting it to make sure it fits your tastes.  Read my full review at Exploring X-Files: I want to believeThe X-Files: I Want to Believe (Special Edition)
  • Step Brothers:  The speculative aspect of this movie is weak at best, I find all of Will Ferral’s movies to be stupid yet having said that about 1/2 of them are hilarious and worth a great laugh and the other 1/2 are offensive and not worth wasting ones time on.  I heard bad things about it and had great concerns when it hit the theater.  I challenged the community to explain to me why this would be a great movie and no one could so far.  That is why I would not even recommend renting it.
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian:  Based on the flawed book lacking imagination I have not even wasted my time on this one.

Is Patience Princely?

Is Patience Princely? We will have to see after May 16th release of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The director and co-writer Andrew Adamson told reporters that the film's six month delayed release was due to the complicated visual effects. After seeing the trailer this is very believable. I was very impressed with the visuals so much so that I would have to change my theater or renter position on this film and upgrade it from maybe not even renter to theater.

I still hold concerns over the story line and can only hope that Disney was able to improve it. Even if the story line still sucks as long as the visuals from the trailer continues to be as nice throughout the whole film it would be worth seeing on the big screen. Their patience by putting off the release date to work more on the visuals will pay off. Kudos to Walt Disney Co... now I feel dirty.
