Overall Rating: 7.5

Batman: Gotham Knight is a neat collection of six short animated films.  It is much like The Animatrix which was a series of short films done for the matrix.  Each short has it's own artistic style and writing but the voice of batman is the same throughout and is voiced by Kevin Conroy.  The six short films are written by Josh Olson, David S. Goyer, Brian Azzarello, Greg Rucka, Jordan Goldberg and Alan Burnett.   Batman: Gotham Knight

The first Short is "Have I got a Story For You."  A group of kids recount their experience with Batman throughout the day as he battles with the man in black.  I found this one to be fun and entertaining.  The Kids different interpretation of their encounter with Batman is fun.  I did not like the look of Batman in this film.  The ending has a fun twist that made me chuckle.

The second short is "Crossfire".  Two of Gordon's special unit officers get caught in a crossfire between the Russian's gang and Sal Maroni's men.  I liked this one the least of the six shorts.  There is plenty of action with two of Gordon's special unit officers getting stuck in a crossfire between two gangs.  Other than the action I was bored with it.

The third short is "Field Test".   Lucius Fox creates a device that is sonically activated repulsion filed and Batman has to test it.  I loved the gadget in it that Batman tests.  The animation style is fun.  The portrayal of Batman in this one is spot on.

The fourth short is "In Darkness Dwells."  Scarecrow and Killer Croc abduct a Cardinal from  the cathedral and take him into the sewers leaving Batman to rescue them.  The portrayal of Killer Croc and Scarecrow were really neat in this one.  I loved the look of Scarecrow but the look of Killer Croc was not my favorite.

The fifth short is "Working Through Pain."  Batman is wounded and trying to make it out of the sewer all the while he is remembering his training on how to work through pain.  This is my favorite short.  If the disc were full of shorts like this one I would have given it a 9 or a 10.  The animation was stunning.  The storyline was fascinating.  The message was compelling and the ending held me in static arrest.  Brilliant!

The sixth short is "Deadshot."  The Russian hires an assassin to carry out a hit on a prominent figure in Gotham and both the police and Batman have to stop him.  This was a nice dramatic episode.  I love the look and style they gave to Deadshot.  The combat sequences in this film is dramatic and gives a nice ending to the disc.

Overall I liked Batman Gotham Knight it is defiantly worth renting and watching.
